Learn to freedive, safely and confidently - even if you’ve never held your breath before.
-
What if you could hold your breath for over a minute, dive 10-20 metres deep, and feel completely calm doing it?
-
Our Beginner Freediver Course isn’t just another weekend activity.
It’s a complete transformation - physically, mentally, and emotionally - that helps you unlock what your body and mind are truly capable of.
-
Whether you’re a total beginner, surfer, or spearo this is where your freediving journey starts.

What will you achieve with your course?
By the end of this internationally recognised Beginner Freediving Course, you will be trained, certified, and confident to freedive safely in real ocean conditions.
This isn’t just theory. These are practical, measurable outcomes.
You’ll be able to:
✔ Hold your breath for 1 minute 30 seconds or more
✔ Freedive to 20 metres safely and comfortably
✔ Perform self-rescue and buddy rescue procedures with confidence
✔ Equalise using proper Frenzel technique
✔ Stay calm under pressure, even when your body wants to panic
You won’t just learn to dive deeper.
You’ll learn how to regulate your nervous system, manage discomfort, and stay composed in high-pressure situations — in the ocean and in life.
More Than a Certification
Most people come to learn how to hold their breath longer.
They leave with:
• Greater ocean confidence
• Improved stress tolerance
• Better focus and mental clarity
• A practical understanding of breath control
• A supportive freediving community, and buddies to dive with
Because freediving isn’t about pushing harder.
It’s about learning how to relax when your body says you can’t.
Why Choose This Course

IMPROVE YOUR EQUALISATION
Who is the Beginner Freediver Course for?
This Beginner Freediving Course is designed for everyday people, not elite athletes.
It’s perfect for:
✔ Complete beginners who want to learn to freedive safely and correctly
✔ Surfers who want to stay calm during hold-downs and wipeouts
✔ Spearfishers looking to improve breath-hold performance and in-water safety
✔ Snorkellers ready to explore deeper reefs with confidence
✔ Ocean lovers chasing confidence, calm, and a stronger connection to the water
Whether you're based in Wollongong, Sydney, or travelling from elsewhere in Australia, this course is built to give you real-world skills you can use immediately.
You do not need prior freediving experience.
You do not need to be “good at holding your breath.”
You just need to be comfortable in the water and willing to learn.
Prerequisites
To enrol in this Beginner Freediver Course, you must:
• Be able to swim 200 metres unassisted
• Be comfortable in the water
• Be 12 years or older
There is no upper age limit.
Snorkelling experience is helpful, but not required.
Freediving is a low-impact, joint-friendly sport that people of all ages and backgrounds can enjoy. You don’t need to be a professional swimmer, and you don’t need to be strong in big surf.
“But What If…”
It’s completely normal to have doubts before booking, trust us, we have heard them hundreds of times.
Here’s what most people worry about:
“I’m not very fit.”
You don’t need to be. Freediving is about relaxation and technique, not strength or cardio fitness.
“I panic easily.”
That’s exactly why you should learn properly. Our Beginner Freediver course teaches you how to regulate your nervous system and stay calm when pressure rises.
“I’m not good in deep water.”
You don’t need to be. We train in controlled environments and build your confidence progressively.
“What if I can’t equalise?”
Most people simply haven’t been taught correctly. We break it down step-by-step and troubleshoot individually.
“What if I can’t hold my breath long enough?”
Almost everyone can achieve 1:30+ by the end of the weekend. Technique and relaxation matter more than natural ability.
You won’t be thrown in and expected to perform.
You’ll be coached.
